TCAI Course Description:Do you experience feeling “triggered” into painful and confusing emotional states? Are you tired of fearing abandonment? Tired of toxic shame attacks that make you feel small or unworthy of getting what you want? Tired of carrying around a load of contempt for yourself or others? Have you ever asked yourself “Why does this keep happening to me?” every time another relationship goes bad? In Thawing Childhood Abandonment Issues, we explore your “inner landscape” in more detail by looking briefly at the origins of Codependent/Internalizer and Counter-Dependent/Externalizer tendencies and issues from the first six of Erik Erikson’s Eight Stages of Human Development. We also explore various symptoms of unmet developmental needs in present-day situations and relationships. We conclude each section with exercises & activities designed to heal and release blocked emotions. The wounding process occurred during the normal stages of childhood development causing emotional injuries and deficits at each stage. Accordingly, Thawing Childhood Abandonment Issues is designed as a developmental recovery process that treats each stage sequentially, from stage one to six, so that healing can occur in a similar fashion as the injuries – developmentally – with healing at one stage providing the foundation for healing at the next.
